In 2002, APROQUEN created and developed a Regional Program for the Treatment, Rehabilitation, Training and Prevention of Children suffering from burns. This program was founded with the goal of replicating APROQUEN’s leading and pioneering model throughout Central America.
Given APROQUEN’s experience and leadership in the management of burned patients, we conduct successful training programs with our medical staff in Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Honduras as well as Panama, Dominican Republic and Palestine. This program has given APROQUEN the opportunity to form valuable partnerships empowering its Central American sister organizations to adopt a holistic approach to burn care.
In 2006, this program received the financial support of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). Since then, APROQUEN has trained thousands of medical professionals including pediatricians, plastic surgeons, infectologists, anesthesiologists, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, psychologists, and nutritionists among others.
